New Features in the Web Archiving Service

CDL’s Web Archiving Service will be adding some exciting new features next week.  Starting December 9th, WAS curators will be able to create topical browsing for public web archives using their own terminology.  Researchers will be able to explore your archives by selecting topics on the site list.

As the curators using WAS to create web archives have expanded the scope and scale of their collection work, we’ve also improved the tools for managing and navigating site lists in the curatorial tools, making it easier to manage a few or several hundred websites in a single archive.

We’ve created a 15-minute video demonstration (http://bit.ly/fCdad1) of the new WAS features that shows all of the new curatorial features, demonstrates how to create topical browsing, and provides some guidelines for using the new “tagging” feature:  (http://bit.ly/fCdad1)

Many thanks to the curators who have provided ongoing feedback, and to those of you who helped us review and design these new features!

If you have any questions about the forthcoming features or about the Web Archiving Service in general, please contact washelp@ucop.edu.
