Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities

  • 9 campuses use Merritt to preserve Electronic theses and dissertations—we have over 14,000 ETDs in Merritt. We have been working with Emily Lin and Sarah Sheets at UC Merced to streamline the process. CDL now receives UC Merced ETDs directly from ProQuest, and submits them to Merritt. CDL is also receiving MARC records for these ETDs, and we’re able to add the link to the eScholarship copy to the MARC record and send to Merced. We can also provide reporting about embargo status, Merritt ARKs and other information to help you track ETDs.We’re receiving ETDs from Proquest for UC Riverside and, soon, UC Santa Cruz.

Contact us if you’re interested in exploring direct delivery and/or MARC records for ETDs. We also have a listserv, ETD-L@ucop.edu, for discussions about ETDs. Let us know if you’d like to join.

  • Thanks in large part to Open Context, the number of objects stored in Merritt grew another 20% in March, to over 805,000 objects. The largest object in Merritt is 805 Gb, from UC Irvine’s Special Collections (a dark archive). The object with the largest number of files has over 57,000 files. It’s part of the Moorea Biocode collection (a public collection) and is available at:
