Responsibilities
Claudia, a member of the Bibliographic Services tech team, has expertise in maintaining and configuring CDL's core library services. She has been actively involved in the many incarnations of Melvyl, CDL's UC-wide library catalog, from its start as an application developed by CDL to its evolution as a next-generation catalog in WorldCat Local. Claudia is in her element when she's using her problem-solving talent to develop and test templates for reporting statistics and key performance indicators. These templates enable CDL to interpret trends with usage, performance, and to aid in trouble-shooting.
Background
Claudia has been at CDL for a long, long time -- 28 years and still counting. When she first started, CDL was known as DLA (Division of Library Automation) and at one point in the 28 years, all the technical staff reported to UCOP's IR&C division. Claudia is now happily back in the CDL fold. Claudia has worked in maintenance of several services, including the now de-commissioned, Searchlight. She is now working on what she calls "fun stuff." Claudia believes it's important to enjoy your work and she eagerly looks for opportunities to apply what she learns. The *fun* part of her job is developing statistical templates; she thrives on the challenge of writing a good set of MySQL commands to apply to her analyses. She takes the lead in writing technical documentation for service implementations and routine processes. Claudia has a strong interest in the growth of the Bibliographic Services team and is a valuable contributor to the team's strategic planning.
