Infrastructure and Applications Support

Systems Architect

As systems architect, Joe's responsibility is to ensure the development and stage environment is available to CDL users (programmers, developers, technical leads, and database administrators). The development/stage environment consists of UNIX based operating systems (Solaris and Linux), highly-available data storage using SAN (Storage Array Network), databases (MySQL and Oracle), and applications using high-availability cluster software (Veritas Cluster Server). He works closely with CDL users, network engineers, data center operations, other operating system administrators and software vendors to provide the tools and infrastructure necessary to help CDL users be successful.

Joe is a hard working individual always eager to learn and expand his knowledge in the field of computers. He is very excited to be joining the (CDL) California Digital Library where he feels he can really grow and develop his skills. Joe feels that his contribution is helping people help others gain, expand, and share knowledge. This really gives him the warm and fuzzies. As a Systems Architect, he provides daily support for servers, operating systems, storage (both local and Storage Array Networks), network security, and working with technical leads in supporting applications. Joe is always looking to help and tries his best to provide excellent service whenever possible.
