Organization

The California Digital Library is housed within the UC Office of the President, Academic Information and Strategic Services, under Vice Provost Daniel Greenstein.  CDL’s executive director is currently under recruitment, and Laine Farley is the acting Interim Executive Director, responsible for the direction, development, and management of the CDL on an interim basis until the position of University Librarian and Executive Director is filled.

The overarching structure of the CDL is program based.  There are five core programmatic areas, led by a program manager and supported by a dedicated team of analysts and programmers.  Additionally, CDL has five internal service groups that directly support its five core programs, as well as the overall management of the broader CDL organization.  Learn more about CDL programs and services.

Planning and Advisory Process

Because CDL is a full partner to the UC campus libraries, it participates in several systemwide library planning and advisory groups.  Additionally, there are advisory and working groups that provide guidance for specific CDL programs and initiatives.  Learn more about CDL planning and advisory groups.

Third-Party Partners

The CDL also has valuable partnerships with organizations outside the UC system.  Third-party partners include California libraries and museums, and national and international digital library organizations and researchers.  The CDL maintains active memberships in a range of organizations, and its staff contributes to the development of digital library standards and other technical innovations.  Learn more about CDL third-party partners.
