The Strategic Technology, Architecture and Standards Working Group (STAS) is no longer active. This group was responsible for recommending and maintaining architectural guidelines and standards for the University of California shared digital collections. These guidelines, subject to review by appropriate University bodies and partners, should be consistent with industry and other University standards, provide a framework that facilitates the creation of integrated systems, and provide the flexibility to foster innovations in scholarly communication.
This web site supports the work of the STAS Working Group and serves as a respository for references and working documents.
The California Digital Library is responsible for developing and providing continuous access to the shared digital content and services of the University of California, and facilitating and supporting scholar-led innovations in scholarly communication. A key strategic goal is to provide collaborative leadership in planning and realizing the shared technology architectures and standards needed to achieve digital information resource interoperability and integration. The digital technologies employed will include a mix of distributed and centralized systems which must follow architectural guidelines and standards to ensure interoperability between systems, consistent levels of system performance and coherent searching and access methods.
