Dear [REPLACE]: As you may know, the University of California, through the Office of the President and the California Digital Library (CDL), has launched the eScholarship Repository (http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship ), an online repository of faculty research and scholarly output. The eScholarship Repository allows UC MRUs, ORUs, and departments to freely upload research into a highly visible, easily searchable collection. It costs nothing to upload papers to the repository, nothing to download them, and nothing to join. A list of MRUs who have joined the repository thus far is at http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship/other.html . I think the eScholarship Repository represents an ideal solution for disseminating MRU research, and I encourage you to join. [MORE] Currently over 115 UC units from every campus are participating in the eScholarship Repository. The repository contains over 2200 papers, and there have been 165,000 downloads of research currently contained in the repository. Papers are uploaded by a repository system administrator located in the unit rather than by individual faculty members. Faculty retain copyright for their papers and may post or publish them in other locations as well. More information on repository policies can be found at http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship/about.html and http://repositories.cdlib.org/escholarship/policies.html . A repository representative will call you soon to discuss next steps and answer any questions you may have. This represents a wonderful opportunity for UC MRUs, and I look forward to your participation. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to contact [XX]. Sincerely,
