2) If yes, explain the key selling points of using Request

Faster service
We explain it to them at the Reference or Single Service desk &
we also have a flyer to give to them. The ILL department has
been puting a flyer into all the ILL article requests that have
come in for our faculty, staff and students.
Don't have to complete paper forms; data is automatically captured; staff can process requests faster and some requests go on without review by staff; cuts approximately 1 day off time it takes to get an item; can do this from your office/home.
Faster than filling out ILL form
Immediate response that request was sent/processed.
Material arrives sooner. Possibility of requesting several items at once (rather than filling out a paper form for each request)
Requests may be made without comming into the library. They may be made while one is searching through the database. Requests are filled quickly--usually within a few days.

Do not have to come in to the library.
1) When they are in a CDL database:
They can do it online when they see the record.
Easy, esp. once they are profiled.
No need to fill out a card.
Don't need to take the extra steps of printing the cite & bringing
it to the library (very few of our patrons have a stash of cards
or send a request in a regular email message, even though we
tell them they can.)
2) From a bibliography-if they have taken the step to look in the catalog/
db & found out that we don't have it, but some other campus
does, they can click to request (& then the
reasons in #1 apply)
One stop shopping. Faster turnaround time. Ease of use.

FASTER, LESS WRITING, NO DELAYS (UNLESS NET IS DOWN)
Time saver, can use it at a locale other than the library
Not having to fill out a form by hand. But I only recommend it AFTER I have double-checked the patron's search in MELVYL, ORION2, and DRA Classic (for new titlesto be sure that we do not have the item.
no need to fill out paper form (some never 'graduated' to the
web-based request form)
no need to cut/paste data from other databases into UCLA's
web-based ILL request form
I sell the patrons on the concept that request go straight to the lending library. They also like the fact that they can send the request without typing in the citation.
Patrons don't need to type/write out bibliographic information; faster and easier to do multipul requests; more convenient to request as you browse on computer; faster turnaround to get items.

search and order the items directly from the searches, no double-
keying.

ease of ordering items, more complete bibliographic info
Faster turn-around for ILL.
I forget to when I am on the desk.
requests passed directly to the supplying library--not delayed by local handling
It usually ensures a faster turnaround time on the request.
1) Ease of use; 2) Requests may be initiated directly from
search screen; 3) Patrons need only insert personal barcode
once per search
While do a search for material the patron can order what they have found.
ILL requests may be generated online as the citation is found. The request is sent directly to the owning UC campus(es) and shipped to us via Tricor. - all this adds up to quick turnaround time.
Request while you search, it's easy!
Don't have to complete paper forms
The process is more streamlined (sometimes), and patrons are able to request more items per day.
