Featured New E-Resources for March 2008:
EBSCOhost Academic Source Complete. http://uclibs.org/PID/126936. This is just one of a constellation of resources which CDL has obtained recently. There are over 5500 journal titles with selected article full-text) in this database including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. Other major files in this acquisition include: Business Source Complete (an upgrade from the current Business Source Premier), GreenFILE, MasterFILE, Military & Government Collection, and Newspaper Source. The latter includes the complete full text for the Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, Washington Post, Washington Times, The Times (London), and the Toronto Star), as well as selected article text for over 300 regional newspapers. Our first priority for cataloging (besides LexisNexis of course) is the Academic Source Complete.
Serial and database news: We have done initial processing on the EBSCOhost Academic Source Complete by merging existing serial records in our catalog with coverage statements and URLs from EBSCO MARC records. The way that this was done was by using a specialized load table in Millenium that used the ISSN as a match point and stripped out everything from the incoming MARC record except the ISSN, coverage, URL and package name. These records then successfully merged with existing records in our catalog. Any EBSCO MARC records that didn’t match are loaded suppressed; these will be re-searched in OCLC by ISSN to bring in additional records.
Monographs: We are still working on the SpringerLink monographs and hope to be able to send out Lecture notes in mathematics records in two weeks. We are redistributing vendor records that now have OCLC numbers in them. Literature Online (LION) records went out in March and we are now preparing to re-send out over 32,000 Early American Imprint first series records the week of April 21st. Both of these were issued as separate special files, so as not to interfere with regular Monday SCP file distribution.
