eScholarship History

Conceived of as a means to rapidly disseminate UC authored or sponsored scholarship, eScholarship first launched in 2002 under the name eScholarship Repository. As one of the first open access repository and publishing platforms, eScholarship has a long history of supporting faculty and student research publications.

eScholarship continues to innovate, supporting new modes of scholarly publication such as data publication and print on demand. Most recently, eScholarship was identified as the primary destination for UC Open Access Policy deposits, and continues to add new and streamline existing services that make participation in the policy simple and effective.
