ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Chicago Defender (via ProQuest)

The ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Chicago Defender database is now available via the new ProQuest platform. Access to ProQuest's current version of this database will end on August 7, 2012.

There will be an overlap period beginning immediately and continuing through August 7, 2012. As of August 8, 2012, ProQuest will be the sole source for UC's subscription to ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Chicago Defender.

  • UCI, UCR, & UCSF WebVPN users - If you are off-campus and logged in using WebVPN, please use the current ProQuest platform.
  • UCD WebVPN users - The floating VPN toolbar is not visible when using the new platform. For information about how to navigate without the toolbar, see UCD's Campus VPN information.
  • My Research users - The new platform will have the ability to import settings from users' previous accounts, but this functionality is only available after we transition in August, not during the overlap period.
  • Feedback/Information - Email comments or questions on the new ProQuest platform to CDL. For more information about the ProQuest transition, see CDLINFO article.
