Publishing, Archives, and Digitization

Through the development of advanced technologies and creative partnerships, the Publishing, Archives, and Digitization program provides the University of California research community with innovative open access publishing and distribution solutions and aggregates world-class digital collections from libraries, archives, and museums throughout the State of California, serving an array of end users including researchers, scholars, students, and the general public.

Calisphere

A gateway to thousands of digitized primary sources from institutions throughout the state, aggregated and optimized for ease of discovery and use.

eScholarship

A suite of open access scholarly publishing and repository services that enable UC departments, research units, publishing programs, and individual scholars to have direct control over the creation and dissemination of their scholarship.

Mass Digitization

An ongoing effort to provide support for the mass digitization of collections from the University of California Libraries for deposit into the HathiTrust Digital Library, including the Google Library Project and local campus digitization initiatives.

Online Archive of California (OAC)

A website providing free public access to collection guides, describing primary resource collections held by libraries, archives, and museums throughout California.

Open Access Policy Tools

A set of tools and resources developed by the California Digital Library and campus partners, intended to ease the deposit of scholarly articles and support participation in the University of California Open Access Policy.

UC Shared DAMS (Nuxeo) and ArchivesSpace

A set of collection management systems supporting the UC Libraries with stewardship of unique primary source collections.

Web Archiving Activities

A series of initiatives to expand collaborative opportunities between CDL, UC Libraries, and web archiving community partners in order to extend the collective capacity to steward web archive collections.
