Web-based Government Information Project: a Mellon-Funded Initiative (2002-2003)

In 2002-2003 The California Digital Library with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation conducted a cost-benefit review of technologies and approaches appropriate for the capture, curation, and persistent management of web-based documents of US state and federal governments.

This work led the way to CDL's leadership of the NDIIPP Web-at-Risk grant and to the subsequent development of the Web Archiving Service . The final report is available: Grant Report: Web-Based Government Information: Evaluating Solutions for Capture, Curation, and Preservation.
