Recent Enhancements, News, and Activities

  • EZID clients were invited to comment on and test a new version of the DataCite Metadata Schema EZID and also to comment on a DataCite poll about data quality. EZID clients who create DOIs are automatically working with DataCite because CDL is a full DataCite member. This diagram may help explain the relationships.
  • We added a new function to the user interface (UI) enabling the ability to change the status of identifiers. Status refers to scope of an identifier’s visibility. It can be publicly visible, reserved, or unavailable. Additional controls allow clients to choose whether or not to make the identifier’s metadata available for harvesting and/or indexing. For more information on identifier status, see EZID Help (http://n2t.net/ezid/home/help) for Managing Identifiers.
  • A reminder: The DataCite summer meeting will take place at the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in Washington DC on September 19 – 20th. The meeting will begin at 13:30 on Sept. 19th and will be collocated with the RDA Second Plenary (http://rd-alliance.org/future-events/) (Sept 16-18) and CODATA task group (Sept. 18th).

EZID Service Description

EZID (easy-eye-dee) is a production service that gives researchers the ability to create and manage long-term identifiers so that they can to track usage, get credit for their work, share their data, and have the data reused for additional research. As a result, EZID identifiers also make it possible to increase citations, to build on previous work, to conduct new research, and avoid duplicating previous efforts.
