New Tier 2 Licensed Resource – EVGeoCloud

Nine campuses (all except UCSF) began participation in a Tier 2 opportunity for access to EVGeoCloud.

EVGeoCloud is a web-based platform that provides easy online access to geospatial data.

EVGeoCloud currently hosts many terabytes of vector data, raster data and digital maps. When connected to the EVGeoCloud platform, campus computers can easily access a wide range of readily available geospatial data. Each campus has its own instance of EVGeoCloud so that it has the ability to provide access to not only Tier 1 and Tier 2 geospatial data but also its own geospatial data. Currently, each instance includes the licensed LandScan datasets and the public domain Natural Earth datasets. EastView Geospatial can work with individual campus libraries to license additional geospatial data for EVGeoCloud or to inexpensively process and host their existing geospatial data on the platform.

Access to EVGeoCloud is available from all campus computers. While off-campus access works via proxy server for some campuses, it does not work for others, so the campus client VPN is recommended for off-campus access.

Brian Quigley (UCB) is the contact for information on this license.
