CDL Seeks Data Analyst (Temporary)

Are you a talented data analyst with an ability to create captivating interactive visual representations from large datasets? Would you like to gain valuable experience putting those skills to use in support of open access to research articles and information?

The California Digital Library (CDL) seeks a Data Analyst to help track and report on participation in the University of California Open Access Policy among faculty and lab researchers. The UC OA Policy enables UC authors to open their publications to the world, regardless of restrictive publisher policies, by empowering them to deposit copies of their work in eScholarship, UC’s open access repository. The CDL, in collaboration with the 10 UC campus libraries, supports faculty deposit in eScholarship through an proprietary publication management system. To support increased engagement with the OA policy across the UC system, the Data Analyst will work with the OA Policy implementation team to identify and analyze participation metrics; generate reports and compelling data visualizations (based on SQL queries) that communicate the value of the policy; and propose data-driven strategies for increasing participation. Applicants should be proficient with data visualization software (such as Tableau) and be able to convey complex information in elegantly designed and compelling visual formats.

This position is a part-time, temporary appointment with a duration of 6-12 months, located in downtown Oakland, CA.
