Jim Vanderveen gets a shorter commute

Jim Vanderveen recently announced his resignation from CDL.  We are truly sad to see Jim go as he’s been a valued and appreciated member of the UC3 family. Jim joined UC3 3 years ago as a Senior DevOps/Developer, providing infrastructure and operations support for our applications and services.  As a resident of Sacramento, he’s been commuting via the Amtrak train 3 days a week which was starting to have detrimental effects on his health, mainly back issues.
In his new venture, Jim will be joining UC Davis’s College of Engineering, reporting to the Executive Director of IT providing network and system administration.  Not only will his commute be significantly shorter, but it will allow him to spend more time with his wife, as they’ll be able to commute together!
While at CDL, Jim has enthusiastically been an engaged member of our team, supporting DMPTool, EZID, Dash/Dryad, and our most resource intensive, Merritt preservation service.  Jim’s contributions include tools for tracking our diverse and extensive inventory of software, monitoring application availability and performance, and working closely with IAS to
harness AWS’s continuing arsenal of cloud services within our environment.
Best wishes to you Jim in your new role!
