East Asian Digital Resources Task Force

The East Asian Digital Resources Task Force is no longer active. The task force was responsible for developing a systemwide strategy to take advantage of the increasing number of East Asian digital resources. They prepared a white paper that outlines the current need for a sustainable infrastructure and explores possible approaches to management, services, and funding options.

East Asian Digital Resources Task Force Activities

CDL East Asian Digital Resources Proposal (February 2005)

The CDL East Asian Digital Resources Proposal recommends that the UC libraries develop a consortial cost and content sharing framework for mainstreaming East Asian digital resources into CDL shared collections and services.

East Asian Digital Resources Consultant’s Report (January 2006)

Pursuant to the February 2005 CDL proposal, the CDL hired a consultant to develop budgetary and staffing recommendations to manage the integration of Chinese-Japanese-Korean materials into UC shared digital collections.

Workshop on Collaborative Development of East Asian Digital Collections (September 2005)

The Workshop on Collaborative Development of East Asian Digital Collections was held in September, 2005 to introduce UC’s librarians who work with East Asian materials to the tools they need to extend collaborative collection development efforts with a special emphasis on digital resources. The Workshop covered key aspects of collection development from resource identification through evaluation, negotiation, licensing, acquisitions and maintenance.
